What is POST Press?

POST Press is a little, independent publisher. We strive to bring books we truly love to the right readers. We choose to do things in a small yet passionate way: only publish two to three titles per year, utilize independent sales and distribution means, and promote the books and authors in the long run. We are partial to fiction, narrative nonfiction, poetry, and now novella. The only requirement is that we absolutely love the book.

Since founded in 2016, POST Press has published four titles: Aku, Meps, dan Beps, a collaborative vignette by mother-daughter Reda Gaudiamo and Soca Sobhita; We Are Nowhere And It’s Wow, a poetry anthology by Mikael Johani; and the first two titles in the Na Willa series by Reda Gaudiamo. Your novella could be our fifth title!

But why novella?

Some of our favorite books are novellas: Villalobos’ Down the Rabbit Hole, Zambra’s The Private Life of Trees, and Lispector’s The Hour of the Star. But it seems that people don’t publish novellas as much as we like to read them! So we are very curious on how you can craft a story best enjoyed in one-sitting.

  1. We only receive a complete draft

  2. Your novella should be in Times New Roman 12pt, word format, pages should be numbered, and text double-spaced

  3. It should be between 10k–30k words

  4. Indonesian, English, or code-switch manuscripts are welcome

  5. Subject: Novella submission_title

  6. To include in body email: your short bio, synopsis of the manuscript, and literary works that you think are similar to your manuscript

  7. We only review unpublished work. Please disclose in your email should you have submitted your manuscript to other publishers

  8. We will only review submissions sent to postpress.submission@gmail.com by October 17, 2018 the latest.

*Submissions that do not conform to these guidelines will not be reviewed.

What happens next?

The four editors of POST Press will take our time to read your manuscript. While we will not be able to personally respond to all submissions, we will be contacting the author(s) whose manuscript(s) are selected for publishing by November 30, 2018, to discuss the editing process, timeline, contract, etc.

How many manuscripts will be selected?

We are looking for one novella we absolutely love and will tirelessly recommend to readers, but we might make an exception if we found one more manuscript that we truly love.

Can I send more than one manuscript?

Yes, but please send them as separate emails.

Will POST Press have another round of open submission for novels, shorts, essays?

We might, but not anytime soon.
